This was our 2nd cruise with Carnival (1st time for our 2 kids ages 14 and 10 & mother in-law) and everyone had a great time. We departed out of San Juan, PR and embarkation & disembarkation was a breeze and hassle free. Loved all the ports and being able to visit places I would have otherwise not gone to on my own. There were enough activities on board that everyone was kept entertained. The kids enjoyed the buffets, water slides, and the nightly entertainment.
We truly enjoyed the staff in the dining room. They were always pleasant and very accommodating. Likewise for our cabin steward (Ariel)!
My only issue was that the shore excursions were on the higher end of what we'd like to spend so didn't book any through Carnival. We went on some excursions on our own and got the same tour but for a lot less than what the cruise was charging.
Cabin was as expected and comfortable with ample closet space for 2 people. My only feedback is that I wish there were more than 1 outlet per room. I know there's one in the bathroom but not an ideal place if you're charging more than 1 device that's not meant to be in a bathroom around water (i.e. phones, tablets etc.). Yes, I know you can bring a power strip but it would save packing space if the room had at minimum 2 outlets available.
We didn't do much in San Juan besides taking a walk and getting something to eat. Wasn't to pleased with our airport experience on our departure day either.
Taxi costs through the port was a bit on the high end to go a short distance so didn't do any excursions. Took a brief walk and just hung out on the ship at this port.
We got a local taxi to drive us through the city and take us to Carlisle bay. Was a day well spent.
LOVED St. Lucia. We were able to take a scenic tour to the twin peaks and the volcano followed by an afternoon at Rodney Bay beach.
Spent the afternoon at S. Friar's Bay beach. The beach was ok (not the best I've been to), but still very pleasant.
Toured the island with a local driver and stopped at the old sugar cane mill.
Being that I'm originally from St. Maarten I went to visit family and spent the day on the French side at Grand-Case Beach.
