Cabin: Deluxe Stateroom with Verandah

After sailing Crystal for the first time in November, we knew we wanted to do it again. This cruise was too good to pass up as it included being in Edinburgh for the Tattoo. While we normally shy away from summer travel, we decided to take a chance. We are glad we did as while some of the cities on the itinerary were more crowded than during the shoulder season, they were not too bad. Crystal really does excel at so many things that it is hard to pinpoint just a few. The service is always impeccable and it is the only cruise line we have traveled with where the staff seemed genuinely pleased to be there. We were glad to see a good number of staff who provided such outstanding service in November also on this cruise. In November, we thought the food on the ship was good, but this time we found a number of our meals to be memorable. While we expect that in the specialty dining venues, we didn't expect to have some many stellar experiences in the main dining room. We like the fact that the ship really does provide an all inclusive experience and again we found it a challenge to use our on-board credit. What Crystal does allow is using your on-board to recognize staff members. I only wish more cruise lines did this because it is always a waste having to find ways to spend your on-board credit on things you don't really need. Crystal did an excellent job of getting guests from the port to the heart of the city. On so many other lines, you end up waiting and waiting for shuttles to take you from the ship to the city. The entertainment on the ship was mixed, with some great evenings provided by guest performers. We love the fact that they also have a magician on board who does several performances in an intimate setting of close up magic.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with Verandah

Cabin B2

Our cabin was nicely appointed with an incredible amount of storage. The bed and linens were great. The veranda was a bit small, but this was such a port intensive cruise that we really didn't have much of an opportunity to use it. The bathroom was large with a tub/shower combination and double sinks.

Port Reviews

Antwerp

We found Antwerp to be a beautiful city with fantastic architecture and history.

Amsterdam

This was our third visit to Amsterdam and we did one of the free walking tours. It was great and definitely added to our knowledge of the city by getting the perspective of an Amsterdamer.

Honfleur

This was our third visit to Honfleur and luckily we were there on market day. It is lovely walking around the streets of the city and stopping in the many art galleries that surround the harbor.

Edinburgh (South Queensferry)

We did not use the ship excursion, but bought our own tickets on line for the Tattoo. It saved a great deal of money and our seats were as good, if not better, than some of the cruise line seats.
