The Pacific Princess sails to Scotland/Iceland/Norway once a year. When we booked an inside cabin in September 2016 for the July 2017 sailing we were given a "guarantee", not a specific cabin. We also asked for early seating for dinner and were 96 on the waiting list for that option. About a month before the cruise our dining option was honored and four days before sailing we were assigned a cabin.
The Ship. I must say this ship had the best crew and staff of any Princess ship we've been on over the years. They were fabulous! Every crew member we interacted with went out of their way to ensure our journey was enjoyable. Much, much appreciated!
The Pacific Princess is an older ship and, although the ship had been retrofitted in June 2017, there are still areas with deferred maintenance. For example, while on the patio area of the Buffet we noticed rust and quite a bit of chipped paint.
We had an inside cabin on Deck 8. It turned out to be a great location as the buffet was on Deck 9 and the walking track and library on Deck 10. It was a quiet location. We did not hear noise from any other cabin. There was one cabin next to us and two across. If you don't want a balcony or suite then I recommend 8039.
