I live in Gulf Shores, an hour from Mobile, but my 3 grandkids and daughter-in-law live in New Jersey. I gave them several trips to pick from, on Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Carnival, traveling to Bermuda, Bahamas, and this trip to Mexico. I was looking for 4 - 7 nights, leaving from NY, NJ, Baltimore, Mobile or New Orleans. I think they picked a winner for them. They found plenty of teens and young adults that loved to party. As for old grandma (me), well, I got to see them. They gave it a 10! Best vacation ever.

Plus side, food was good, attractively presented, drinks package drinks were excellent, and even better if you have a regular bartender you tip a dollar now and then. They remember and grab "the good stuff." Excellent priority embarkation.

Con, limited wine by the glass selection, few rooms with balcony, poor disembarkation organization with people coming into the line from all directions. Some people wait 45 minutes or more see others get off an elevator and merge in front. Elevators to Penthouse not running on disembarkation day. Had to carry bags 2 flights to find next bank of elevators closed to 9 a.m. Small pool.

Cabin Review

Cabin Owners' Penthouse Suite

Were originally booked in Grand Suite but received phone offer to upgrade for $1700 or $1750 (not sure) and said yes because we are 5 people and this suite is considerably bigger. Bar is wasted space. No coffee maker, no sink there. But living room is spacious and there was plenty of space to leave a twin sized bed set up (not a roll away - they assembled a real bed) and cabin attendant folded up sofa bed every day. Teens had all their friends over to oooh and aaah their set up. Small balcony overlooks lifeboat(!!) Living and bedroom windows overlook pool. Did not experience noise although was pre-warned it could be an issue. Nice round dining table for 4 that could have sat 5 if we ate in.

Port Reviews

Mobile

Parking garage line was backed up and slow moving, but check in staff were great. Being suite guests, we got the VIP treatment every step of the way. First ones on ship and were escorted right to our cabin at 11:15 a.m.
