Recognizing that at any given time, the Wait Staff on a cruise ship is almost always in flux, we got the feeling many of the staff had just reported in for their first contract. HMCSBN nailed it on the crush for a table and the problems in the main dining room.
The two specialty restaurants were outstanding with the Italian one the better of the two.
The cleaning staff was impeccable, timely and and very friendly. The best we've seen in our 15 or so cruises across 5 cruise lines.
It was our first Oceania cruise & if we do another with them, it'll be on one of their bigger ships. The lone launderette was adequate, but cramped & crowded.
The non-staff entertainers left a bit to be desired. A comic, the mandatory violinist, a magician, all reminded us of why we'd never heard of them.
If on-board shopping is your thing, or if you left your favorite deodorant at home, forget it on Nautica. There are the obligatory watches, a limited choice of logo apparel items, etc., but you quickly find out where you can find a Tesco or other retailer when you hit your next port.
Excursions: In a word, expensive. Many other folks found their own whale-watching adventures, or glacier & iceberg boats, at far cheaper prices than Oceania's.
Lectures: Outstanding presentations by one of the two men to ever go to Challenger Deep in the Marianas Trench, CAPT Don Walsh, USN (Retired), and ones about Broadway and West End theater productions by a Broadway producer.
If we go on Oceania again, it'll be because of the port visits, not because of the Nautica experience.
