We did "The Grand European" tour, 14 days on the ship followed by 2 days in Amsterdam. We actually were on 2 different ships because due to low water level on the Danube, we had to change ships. - We started on Magni and transferred to Baldur. In Passau, Germany, we packed up and got off and took a bus around the low water level while the guests on Baldur did the same and we traded ships. The crew stayed with each ship except for the program director. She came with us. Which was great. We had Tessa and she was fantastic! Viking made this transition as smooth as possible.
We signed up for many excursions online beforehand and one thing I would have found helpful would have been for the website to talk about travel time for these excursions. For instance, some of them you are on a bus for an hour or longer to get to the excursion. That said, we still enjoyed them and had a great time.
At each excursion you have a different tour guide and I was surprised by the wide variety of experience of these tour guides. Some were very good, others were difficult to understand or had unpleasant attitudes.
Our cabin was very nice. We paid for a veranda suite. I loved having the balcony. Laundry service was included which was great since this was a 2 week cruise. The cabin stewards were excellent.
