Viking Star Cruise Review by abbycat10
- Sail Date: July 2017
- Destination: Baltic Sea
The ship decor is elegantly understated with very comfortable and welcoming lounge areas, restaurants, and outer deck seating areas. Very clean with nice touches. (Birds singing in the ladies bathrooms!) Our cabin was nicely appointed with a veranda, very comfortable bed mattress and soft sheets, good sized bathroom, large flat screen TV. I appreciated the powerful hair dryer with heat concentrator.
Food on board was high quality and generally excellent. Wonderful variety in World Cafe, and upscale dining in Manfredi's. Entertainment - enjoyable production shows with a talented young cast. We enjoyed Torshavn; Christina, Speedy and the band were fantastic. Dancing to a live band with other passengers each evening was fun.
We used the fitness room and spa area. The sauna, whirlpool and snow room were great.
Service was excellent in the dining rooms and explorer desk personnel were helpful. Martha, the general manager was exceptional. Ray Michaels, the cruise director, was a warm personable guy who we would love to have on our next cruise.
Each port had its own charm. We enjoyed the included tours in each port, although the Stockholm guide did not relay enough information about getting around the city, history, etc. In St. Petersburg, we took an Alla tour which was fantastic. 14 people in our group. Our guide, Julia, was knowledgeable, efficient, and well organized. Alla was able to find tickets to the evening ballet performance of Swan Lake at the Marinsky theatre at the last minute. In Berlin, we took a semi private tour with friends. Yoav from jewishberlin history tours gave us a great personalized tour in the short time we had in the city (6 hours)
Overall I would definitely recommend this Viking cruise. Will probably book again with Viking. The Viking team works hard to provide a quality experience for their passengers.
