  3. Carnival Valor
My husband, 15-year-old daughter and I took the shorter cruise on Carnival Valor to Cozumel. We had a really outstanding time. We're not 'crowd' people and were concerned about our ability to deal with 3000 of our fellow human beings but you can be as inclusive or reclusive as you want. We caught a few of the shows, did a little shopping on board and just generally relaxed and enjoyed the ride. We don't drink, so we purchased the Bottomless Bubbles package; well worth the money. We ate breakfast and dinner every night in the Washington Dining Room where we received exceptional service. Our squad of waters (David, Christian & Fajal) remembered our names and were informative and entertaining as well as providing superb service. The food in the dining room was consistently excellent. I would rate the food on the buffet as somewhat less so...more like a college dining hall. A notable exception was the chocolate buffet they had our second afternoon at sea. That was a lot of fun! Our steward, Firbauz, was attentive and responded promptly when we had a special request. Orlando, the Cruise Director, was an absolute hoot! We loved his Welcome Aboard and Love & Marriage shows. Our daughter enjoyed Club O2. She basically left as soon as they opened and we didn't see her again until curfew. Except for meals, of course! Cozumel was beautiful and our excursion (not booked through Carnival) was amazing. Would love to sail on Valor again but our next cruise will probably be Alaska's Inside Passage in 2020!

Wonderfully spacious cabin with a great balcony; we spent hours just watching the ship's wake.
