We chose this cruise as a graduation gift for our granddaughter...we were looking for a cruise with particular ports (Barcelona, Rome) and had some timing constraints, so this was the cruise we landed on. it was great for her (19 years old). The shows were good and the ice show (which I don't think was advertised or talked up near enough) was excellent. We spent some time at the FlowRider, around the pool and attended some fantastic dance parties..it was everything she wanted. For us however there seemed to be an awful lot of unsupervised children running around at all hours of the day and night, and we got a little tired of having to psych ourselves up to do battle in the buffet lines for breakfast and lunch. But the food and service at dinner was great!

There is a pretty even flow of people trying to sell you things, so you need to decide how much that is going to bother you. Most of the time it is fairly easy to rebuff their efforts but one evening our dinner table was approached, just as we started eating our main course, by someone trying to sell us tickets to a murder mystery dinner. This is completely unacceptable. It took us several minutes to get him to leave us alone. I understand that their job requires that they do this, but approaching us in this matter only created bad feelings.

Also be advised that aside from a shampoo dispenser on the wall of the shower, there were no toiletries whatsoever provided, not even hand soap. This was especially odd given that there was a commercial practically on a loop on the ship's TV channel touting the importance of washing your hands often. I still have the little song going around in my head!

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

This cabin is at the back of the boat. The junior suite has a king bed and a full sized sofa that pulls out into a bed. Both beds were comfortable for us. The view off the back of the boat is a little obstructed by beams but that was really not an issue. It felt a little more secluded (in a good way) on the balcony and I spent more time out there than I ever have on a cruise ship balcony. It was a good size with two lounge chairs, two upright chairs and a bistro table. Perfect for having breakfast there! Bathroom is tired and needs updating, but has full sized tub.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We spent one night in Barcelona before we boarded the ship and spent it with Barcelona Taste doing a food tour. One of the highlights of the whole trip!!!

Villefranche

Villefranche is a great place to spend time if you are not interested in doing an excursion to Nice or Monaco. Trek up the hill to the little shops, cafes and restaurants tucked into little streets and alcoves. This is what the Cote d'Azur is all about!
