Cruise back to Alaska with friends. This trip was a much better experience than our 2006 August trip mainly due to the beautiful weather this time. Activities on board the ship are limited so we had a much better experience traveling with friends. Getting on an off this ship was a breeze. The only reason I didn't show 5 stars was the dining and the fact that the ship is showing too much wear. We were in cabin 4066 exterior fully obstructed view, but knew that going in. We wanted the larger cabin. The cabin offered more room at a better price. Staff was great. We did only one tour with the ship and purchased others on land once we arrived in port. This was our 2nd trip to Alaska and we were very excited as we saw so many things that were not even visible on our previous trip do to clouds covering the tops of the mountains. We also had lower expectations of this trip based on out prior experience, so very pleased with the 2nd try.
Over all we our cabin was exactly as described and expected.
One day early stay at the Travelodge. Worn but clean.
2nd trip here we did a self walking tour. Saw eagles and enjoyed the totem pole museum.
Off the ship we purchased tickets from the tram to ride up and go to Mendenhall glacier We saw black bears fishing and eating salmon in the stream at the glacier.
Ship pathway to glacier was beautiful. We got to see every mountain top. Saw grizzly bear on the shore.
We purchase a land tour from ACT from Seward to Anchorage for our flight. It was an all day tour and the guide was fantastic.
