15 Days of Unabated Luxury

Why Chose Scenic? My wife and I booked the 15-day “Romantic Rhine & Moselle” cruise with Scenic departing Amsterdam for Basle (Switzerland), leaving the UK on 19th July 2017, which coincided with my 70th birthday. We have enjoyed more than 40 ocean cruises, including: Regent, Seaborne, Silversea, Hebridean International and Sea Dream. This was our first taste of River Cruising. We chose Scenic because we wanted an all-inclusive luxury cruise on the Rhine and Moselle rivers. The reviews and UTube videos on Scenic were just excellent - and we wanted to avoid the stress of air travel in favour of rail. We were not disappointed.

From Home to Scenic Opal & Return. We were collected by car (operated by Trident) from our home and driven to the Renaissance Hotel St Pancras, where we had booked an overnight stay in one of their “Chamber” suites. This offer, (not booked through Scenic) included a VIP transfer to our Eurostar Coach with fast track through immigration and security without having to lift a bag. A change of trains at Brussels on a Thalys train to Schiphol (with food and drinks!) was straightforward and were met by a local Scenic driver on arrival for a quick transfer to Scenic Opal. The next time we saw our bags was in our (BA) Balcony Suite. We received a very warm welcome and were shown to our suite following a welcome glass of bubbly. Our Butler, Gabriel, introduced himself and showed us around out suite and explained the room facilities. The return journey was equally painless with just a change of station from Gare de Lyon to Gare du Nord Eurostar and home by limousine from St Pancras. All very painless.

Cabin Review

Cabin Balcony Suite

Suites are spacious and well-appointed with high end toiletries, daily stocked mini bar and outstanding housekeeping. We particularly enjoyed the ability to open the balcony window by the touch of a button. Suite size compared favourably with the top end ocean cruise suites.

Port Reviews

Cochem

A superb German town with bags of charater and excellent shopping.

Bernkastel-Kues

Probably the best port stop with a 10 minute walk into town. More excellent shopping and a town full of old-world character.

Rudesheim

Great town. music machine excursion, cable car to Germania statue. Do try the Rudesheim Asback Coffee!
