We have sailed with Viking three times including one ocean cruise on Viking Star from Barcelona to Venice. Our first river cruise was on Viking Var on a Grand European cruise from Budapest to Amsterdam. That experience was enough to encourage us to book additional cruises with Viking. On each of previous cruises we were able to visit many historical points in Europe that we've only heard about since each port call included superb guided tours. After each tour we returned to the comforts and wonderful amenities available aboard ship. So we embarked on our Paris to the Swiss Alps cruise with the expectation we would have similar experiences. We were not disappointed!!! We started our adventure with a four day extended stay in Paris before traveling to Trier, Germany to board the longship Viking Hild. The well-appointed ship, excellent amenities, superb crew, delicious foods, and super tour director all lived up the expectations that we had. We enjoyed the included tours as well as several optional tours while cruising the Moselle and Rhine River valleys. Upon arrival in Basel, Switzerland we opted to take a 10.5 hour bus tour from Basel to Zurich via Interlaken which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had an excellent tour guide who ensured that we had a great experience and the scenery was absolutely stunning. After a two day included stay in Zurich we set out with sixty of our fellow travelers for a four day optional tour through Switzerland which included a breathtaking six hour ride on the Glacial Express train through the Alps to the famous resort village of Zermatt. After a wonderful two night stay there we headed for Geneva by bus again through the beautiful Swiss Alpine countryside. Before flying home we spend two days in Geneva. The hotel accommodation in Paris, Zurich, Zermatt and Geneva were first rate! Viking has given us the opportunity to travel extensively in Europe with their all-inclusive cruise packages. We will continue to patronize Viking for our future cruise adventures in fact we have already booked a cruise in the Spring of 2018.

Cabin Review

Cabin D-French Balcony

Our cabin provided all the comforts of home. It was well-appointed and provided all of the amenities that made for a wonderful stay. The cleaning staff did a superb job. The bathroom facilities are excellent, compact but very roomy and efficient.
