This was our first cruise and we were completely blown away. From start to finish...yes including the lines and people watching...we had an absolute blast! It was just my husband and I celebrating our anniversary and sad to say, first vacation in 4 years. The kids and dogs enjoyed their Staycation at home with their "Tween Assistant" (artist formerly known as world's best babysitter). Thanks to my wonderful co-worker and workwife, Lisa Martin of Cruise One is the Travel Agent that helped us book this cruise and has become an official adopted member of our family!
We arrived in Fort Lauderdale the day before and stayed at the Ramada (not bad...but we will not be doing that again). It was late at night when I booked it and my only requirement was free airport and cruise port shuttle service. Anyhow, let me get back on track :-)
Embarkation: WAS AWESOME! Why-well we signed up for the 11am call time. Although we did not have FTTF that line MOVED! I mean seriously! I must note that we did not have passports-just our driver's licenses and birth certificates and we had no problems. After we received the Sign and Sail cards-we sat in the waiting area 10 MINUTES! Wow.
Cabin: The cabin was ready promptly at 130; and, like the ship-not disappointing at all. We used the "Guaranteed" cabin selection and ended up in cabin 9227. Yes, that's on the Lido deck. WOW. We were quite happy with the cabin and our steward Gregson (great sense of humor).
NEW RULE-book excursions with the ship! We wanted to walk around Ocho Rios to find authentic curry chicken. long story short-we were in port a grand total of 35 minutes. That's it. The locals were relentless; and we were asked if 1)my husband wanted another woman and 2)if we wanted some weed. Seriously, I kid you not. So, we turned right around and got back on the ship. Best Decision Ever.
