We booked this cruise because we were travelling with a group of 10 ages 5-75. The ship is old and tired. The cabins look like they are from the 70's with the bathrooms being in terrible shape. The cabins and hallways smell awful like urine. My bed pillows had to be exchanged for new ones because of the awful smell to them ( I thought it was my husbands stinky feet at first). I found a peanut by my bed a few days into the trip even though I had not been eating peanuts! The balcony was gross and could use a good scrubbing. The cabins are tiny and cramped for 2 adults. Every night I felt itchy and found bites while in bed ( my husband did not). Staff on the ship are very friendly and accommodating. The food is awful in the main dining room and only minimally better in the specialty restaurants for which you pay extra. The elevators which do not all operate at the same time are slow and crowded. The main promenade on level 5 is ok....a few food shops and lots of junk stores.
The captain makes too many announcements with some as early as 7am and late as 11:30pm! The one tour we booked through the ship was terrible and we were left feeling like we didn't really get to see Marseille. Tours were way overpriced too. Better to book a private tour on your own. The best part was getting off the ship each day and I couldn't wait for the cruise to be over so I could shower and feel clean again.
Needs renovation !
