We drove from OKC to Houston the day before so that we wouldn't be rushed on the sail day. Stayed at the Fairfield Inn near the Houston airport. The price was reasonable and it was convenient and close to restaurants and easy access to the highway the next morning for the drive to Galveston. Only took about 35 minutes.

The traffic getting to the cruise terminal on Sunday AM was SLOW going to get into the terminal area. I would recommend driving past the terminal and coming in from the east direction, rather than from the West and having to wait forever to turn into the terminal drives. Once we did get on the property, there were porters very available to assist in getting the luggage from the car and onto a cart for us. He showed us where the check in was and took care of getting all our luggage inside and checked in for us, which was a great help. He was friendly and affable and well worth the tip he earned.

The staff inside the terminal were courteous and smiling as they directed us where we needed to be. Our check in was 10:30 and it was probably about 11 by the time we got the car parked and everyone at the check in area. We are Platinum guests and had priority check in, but there was not a long line or wait time even for the other guests checking in. The check in staff are amazing to me at how quickly they manage to get such a large crowd of people checked in, sea pass cards printed and photo ID made and smiling and friendly throughout this process. Once we had our sea pass cards, we were directed to the walkway onto the ship and it went very quickly. The cabins were not available until 1, so we boarded a few minutes before noon and headed to eat.

Royal Family Suite

Cabin FS

The family cabin was roomy enough for the 6 of us during the week. Although they say it will accommodate 8, they would need to be children for half of them. We had 4 adults and 2 children. There are 2 bedrooms. The bedroom just past the entrance door has 2 bunks in the ceiling and twin beds that can be put together. My granddaughters (8 & 9) slept on the bunks the first night but said they were not very comfortable. One slept on the pull out sofa the remainder of the time. There is a dressing table in that bedroom and a few drawers, I think on that table. The closet for that room is in the entrance hall in the suite. There are shelves for clothes in the closet, as well as a good amount of hanging space. The room safe is also in that closet. The closets all have a light that comes on when the doors are opened, which is nice to be able to see inside. There is the typical cruise bathroom,(small shower and sink and toilet) in that bedroom.

The second bedroom is larger and has a dressing table and nightstand, a chair and a larger nightstand, with a wine cooler inside that stand. There is a nice sized closet, with a shelf on the top. There are drawers in the dressing table. The bathroom is larger and has a bathtub and shower combination. It has a porthole looking out onto the balcony.

The living room has an L shaped couch. There is also an L shaped cabinet, with a wine cooler in one of the cabinets, There are a small cocktail table and a chair and ottoman in the living room. There are many drawers and cabinets for storage in the living area, as well as another large closet. The storage in this suite was great....we never used all the space available for storage. There are 3 tvs in the suite. TV stations are very limited though.

There is a sliding patio door onto the balcony. The balcony is furnished with 2 loungers and a small side table between them, as well as a dining table with 4 chairs.

Port Reviews

Falmouth

I did not see anything that interested me to tour in Falmouth. I did go off the ship for about 30 minutes, but were just completely assaulted by people approaching me for taxi rides, etc. so I returned to ship.
