This was our 6th cruise with RC and we have certainly seen a decline in the standard of food and entertainment over the years. The service at times was slow and there appeared to be less waiters in the bars than on previous cruises which probably accounted for this. The food was bland and I found myself adding salt to my food for the first time ever. The menu in the main dining room was uninspiring and the same each night. We ate at Giovannis table and ordered 3 steaks all medium rare. Two were raw and had to be sent back to be cooked again and the 3rd was well done. Not great considering the charge for eating there is now comparable to eating at a decent restaurant at home. The food in the Windjammer was also very disappointing. It was only just warm at times and the choice was far less than previously. The staff began taking away the food more than half an hour before the restaurant was due to close, so if you arrived by then you would have even less choice. I was not asked once by the waiting staff in the Windjammer if I wanted a drink and this again is unusual as it has never happened before.
On a positive note, the room attendant was amazing. She was very friendly and attentive and always stopped to talk even though it was obvious how busy she was.
My daughter and I attended the Sushi making class. This was the highlight of the cruise for me. It was worth every penny and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys sushi and cooking. We made our own sushi and received comprehensive notes and a 25% discount voucher to use in the restaurant, which my daughter and I did. The waiting staff and chefs were fantastic and made us feel very special. I would also recommend the guacamole class. This was excellent value as it included a 3 course lunch and delicious margarita.... and of course you learned how to make guacamole.
