travel with carnival for a weeks cruise of mexico. mexico itself was fantastic but customer service on ship and before departure wasnt good. We were advised that a bottle of smirnoff we bought at duty free in las vegas airport could be tagged before we got on the ship then returned to us at the end of the week , this wasnt the case and the vodka was confiscated unopened. I have complained several times to carnival since who are basically saying as far as they are concerned there are no issues and matter is closed , so therefore im a litre bottle of smirnoff out of pocket . We also wernt advised on embarking that there was a 90 dollar service gratuity per person which was optional we only found this out when we were billed at the end of the cruise. We had a light out in bathroom last two days which was reported however nobody came to fix it this was probably down to half the ceiling outside the cabin being removed on the last few days and all the carpets being taped out i guess to stop them being marked with water or whatever other reason was they had the ceiling out .the last night on the ship somebody had been in our cabin whilst we were out in the evening and put a chair in there which we hadnt requested and found strange why someone should be in our cabin at that time of night. we ate none of the food in the restraunt whilst on board as the first time we tried it we found it bland with watery chicken and frozen hard veg ,we ate the whole week from self service. The drinks were well over priced as were the drink packages. we holiday 4 or 5 times a year and i can safely say this is the worst experience we have ever had. when we returned home we had settled the bill but them 5 transactions appeared on my card balance as pending transactions these totalled 288 dollars which i knew didnt belong to us i queried it and was told it would be looked into i also questioned it with my bank who said they would investigate once the money had been claimed. After i complained these transactions slowly disappeared over a few days but makes me wonder was it just someone testing their luck. The holiday itself was great mexico was fantastic the cruise director adam was great and a great host but we certainly would never choice carnival again for a cruise
