Viking Sky Cruise Review by MississaugaChris
- Sail Date: May 2017
- Destination: Baltic Sea
We have travelled with Viking before on a river cruise and loved their standard of service. The new Ocean ships were inviting because of their relatively small size which carried with it some of the intimacy we have experienced on river cruises.
We were not disappointed. Far from i.t we could find nothing to criticise or find fault with on the cruise. The accommodation ( we were in a penthouse veranda) was magnificent. The service was impeccable with all members of the wonderful crew very helpful, cheerful and anxious to help. The food was terrific with many different dining areas to pick from. The excursions were impeccably organised with great guides.
The shop was spotless and kept beautifully clean. I have never seen better washrooms and the towels available to open the washroom door was a terrific idea.
We very much liked having at least one included excursion at every destination,. In particular we were very impressed with Viking's chartered express train taking 600+ guests nonstop to Berlin as an included excursion. On the return, to cope with the problem of the same number of passengers re-embarking on the ship all having to go through the security procedures and the prospect of the resulting line-up there was a welcome party to greet guests with drinks, appetizers , music and some dancing to while away the waiting time. We thought this was a very clever way of turning a potential problem into a fun event..
Our favourite spot onboard was the explorer lounge where one could see what was ahead of the ship in delightful surroundings with the opportunity to consume delicious open face sandwiches at lunch time, followed by a to-die-for almond cake
While on board we booked for another Viking cruise!

City Tourcovered a lot of interesting ground and on our free time spent it at the Berlin wall which was terrific because of the historical exhibit thereView All 124 City Tour Reviews
Eidfjordenjoyable day trip to the plateau on bus and train. Perhaps a little less travelling and more walking would have been better for usView All 182 Eidfjord Cruise Port Reviews

The Old Townenjoyable walk though the guide didn't really have much to offer in the oil museum - would have been better left to our own devices thereView All 49 The Old Town Reviews
