We chose to do a Viking Cruise because we had heard so many reports of how wonderful they are and how well you are treated. Our experience showed these stories were all true. Everything was taken care of from the moment we arrived in our departure city of Amsterdam. We were greeted by several Viking staff members at the airport and were taken directly to our hotel in Amsterdam for our two night, three day stay prior to embarkation. There were Viking Staff at the hotel to help us through check-in and let us know what tours were available to us and when we could go on them. Since we had pre-booked a visit to the Van Gogh museum we were unable to take the scheduled walking tour of Amsterdam. No problem though, Viking staff were able to make other arrangements for us on the spot. We were fortunate to be able to book a tour of the Keukenhof gardens on our last day in Amsterdam which turned out to be one of our most memorable highlights of the trip.

We were taken from our final tour directly to the Viking Idi and our luggage was there as well because it was taken care of for us at the hotel by the Viking Staff. There was food and beverages available as we waited for the check in process to be completed. Our room was just like it looked in the brochures except that we needed twin beds and it was a queen. No problem for the staff to take care of, they were able to rearrange the room in under 20 minutes.

The Viking Idi was a surprise to us. We loved the intimate size, from the lounge area with ceiling to floor windows to the dining area with ceiling to floor windows. And speaking of dining. Every meal was a treat with many ways to enjoy them. Breakfast and Lunch had light options on the Aquavit Terrace or full meals that could be enjoyed buffet style or with table service or a little of both if you wanted. Dinner always had several courses with many options as well. We did not have one bad dining experience the entire trip.
