My choice of any cruise or tour is the itinerary. With this cruise there are no "wasted" days at sea. You are at a new island every morning. We had great weather and the staff on the ship was very attentive and efficient. Another really great thing about this particular cruise and ship is that it is relatively small - not one of those mega-ships. This makes meal time, embarkation and disembarkation a breeze with no waiting. Also, the clientele was almost 100% adults (sorry kids, but I prefer peace and quiet). We generally ate in the cafeteria dining room, just because it was quicker, but our first night we had a scrumptious filet minon in the "formal" dining room. All rooms on this ship have a balcony, which was an extra treat for us. The food in the cafeteria is basically just the same as you would order in the dining room; sometimes it wasn't as hot as I would like. But the ice cream with chocolate fountain was yummy! Evening activities were fun, but not exactly professional - still very enjoyable. Shore excursions were sometimes disappointing; on one snorkel tour we were only in the water about 8 minutes! On another, where it was advertised we would snorkel, there was no snorkeling. On disembarkation I didn't know how I was going to spend my time, as I had a later flight - but Viking to the rescue! They made a centrally located Hotel available to us (a hospitality room, with refreshments and of course, rest rooms) and kept our luggage safely tucked away, until it was time to go to the airport. I had almost an entire 1/2 day to explore San Juan, which is really cool! FYI - my opinion is that the San Cristobal Fortress is much more interesting than El Morrow, but they are both very historic and you should do both, if you can. We thoroughly enjoyed all of the ports and the free Viking tours. It never hurts to do some research on your own though. I had maps and information on other interesting things to see and do in each port, just in case.

Cabin Review

Cabin Standard/veranda

I was very pleased with the spaciousness of the cabin and of course, what a treat - all of the cabins on this ship have a balcony! There was a full size bathroom with full size shower. There is a sitting area with 2 chairs and a "coffee" table and a desk. I was with my daughter, so we had the beds separated. Lets face it - you don't spend that much time in your cabin anyway, but there was certainly sufficient space so you didn't feel "squeezed". Especially in the bathroom - that was really nice.

Port Reviews

Barbados

Viking's included tour was EXCELLENT! We toured the historic Blackwoods Screw Dock where they used to work on and repair ships. Then on to St. John's Parish Church with a very old and interesting cemetery. Lots of views of the countryside. Then a stop at the Highland Adventure Center with a free rum drink and gorgeous overlooks. We spent the rest of the day at the beach.

Guadeloupe

Again, the Viking included tour was awesome. We went to the most beautiful seaside spot (Pointe des Chateaux) with rugged rocks and waves, bused around the island, stopped at the spice/craft market and then on to the Morne A L'eau Cemetery, which is all above-ground and completely done in black and white checkerboard. The day was very memorable.
