Carnival Legend: I was referred to this ship by family who have traveled several times on Carnival Cruise Lines. A trip to Alaska, a buck list dream, however, what I experienced was a very disappointing excursion on a ship that lacked pizazz, accommodating staff, but provided a dank/dirty Vista Suite (I can only imagine what the less expensive cabins looked like). I thought we would experience beautiful buffets of fresh meats, fruit, vegetables and ice sculptures, however, what we received was a room set up like a hospital cafeteria, with mediocre to non-edible food items, dirty plates, limited staff:most who were rude, and told my family when asked for a beverage, "YOU need to go to the bar and get it."

The helicopter excursion in Juneau up to the glacier was amazing! The train up into the mountain in Skagway was just okay. We ended up hiring our own tour guide in Ketchican right when we got off the ship, who was fabulous: Norman, from a local Indian tribe was fabulous, and took us to an unique spot where we were lucky to see eagles, black bear cubs, and salmon swimming upstream.

I loved Alaska, it was a breathtaking, it was so unfortunate that Carnival is more about money than providing quality accommodations. I do NOT recommend the Carnival Legend, and would have definitely read cruise reviews before I signed up for this ship!

Vista Suite

Dated, Dank, and Dirty Vista suite. The carpet was stained, bathroom had mold in grout. The VISTA BALCONY was filled with chipped paint all over/rusted metal work, and the glass on balcony was so dirty you couldn't see through it. The chairs on the balcony were fitly. I was in tears, and when I called customer service, they did VERY little to provide solutions (they basically took one of the filthy carpet mats out, which revealed even dirtier under carpet, and never came back with a clean one), they never offered compensation, and seemed to blame the steward for our dissatisfaction with the suite, when it was not his fault.

How can a ship really be clean when people debark the ship by 10am and they start embarking the next group on the SAME DAY 2 hours later?
