After an excellent Med cruise on the Viking Star, We knew we wanted to use another Viking cruise ship for our next trip. The Viking Sea is identical and the perfect ship to see the beautiful coastline and fiords of Norway. Great Ship. Great itinerary.
We found it easy to get into the speciality restaurants multiple times. The menu does not change in Manfredi's Italian restaurant, but there are many dishes to choose from on it and they are perfectly prepared. The main Restaurant was excellent; never a wait for a table, even though we were often a large group. The challenge was to choose. The World Cafe had fresh shellfish most nights - King Crab and freshly cooked mussels on the terrace.
The entertainment was just right - a group of young, energetic performers gave it their all. And the cruise director, Heather Clancy, was the best we have experienced in 40+ years of cruising. Not sure when she slept. She made sure we had every opportunity to enjoy ourselves.
Our cabin was kept spotless by a friendly steward who we rarely saw - never came back to an unmade bed.
While the ports were fun, the heart of this cruise was the scenery that we could enjoy from the deck or our veranda. The Captain kept us informed of upcoming sites. And, there were lots of them.
We are already booked on the Viking Sea again in 2018 to continue the Viking path from Bergen to North America.
Vikings"s one shortfall was their airline scheduling. Despite the fact that we made our cruise reservations over a year in advance, Viking was unable to get us on the nonstop flight from Seattle to Amsterdam. We ended up paying several hundred dollars extra to fly a day early (to get on a nonstop) plus being on our own from the Airport to Bergen, and paying for a hotel there. Viking should have picked up these costs if the plane was full.
Excellent. Especially liked the night lights.
