We have sailed with Thomson many times, but we consider that " penny pinching " is now in force. Menu wise - now only three courses, unless you request an extra starter, but food in general was ok. Ship just the same - charming - but does show its age. Entertainment probably the worst we have experienced, no lack of effort, but the singing quality not up to scratch, fortunately the dancing was first class. The lectures on board very interesting. Having had my little moan I am sure we will travel with Thomson in the future, we like the smaller ships and without doubt the staff just cannot be beaten. The excursions we did with Thomson ok, but over-priced. In St Petersburg we did a 2 day Grand Tour with Alla Tours and would strongly recommend them.
All in all we had a great fortnight and met with many interesting people
Cabin more than met our needs
Lovely city - visited church with historic organ, and had 20 minute organ recital.
Easy to do on your own with street map
