Our group (6 adults) really wanted to get to see Havana, Cuba. It was like going 'Back to the Future'. Seeing all the 1950 and 1960 cars everywhere was a very special experience. The Empress of the Seas is small, but very intimate and friendly ship. The first day, we took a bus tour with Royal Caribbean to get an overview of the city. On the second day in port, we took a very reasonably priced horse and buggy tour by the port and were really impressed in viewing Havana close up. We booked inside cabin 7021. The location was good, but it was the smallest cabin of all that we were able to view due to the way the ship was structured. Our cabin steward and wait staff were excellent and the food was above average and had a varied selection each day in both the main dining room and buffet. The entertainment was 'top notch'. Every evening's show was terrific. The singers and dancer's put on very enjoyable shows and the ship's orchestra was very good. I've been on many cruises and I've got to say that the magic act was as good as I've ever seen on any cruise and comedian Phil Palisoul was excellent. He kept us laughing continuously throughout his act. I'd go to see his act any time I had the opportunity. My only regret was that I love playing Texas Hold-em poker... but the small casino did not provide one.
Deck 7 was perfect as far as access to everything on the ship. But don't book cabin 7021. Too small. While all the inside cabins were rather small, but due to the ship's structure, cabin 7021 had to be the smallest of all. Other's in the same area had more room and storage space. We had an very capable cabin steward who kept the cabin clean and neat at all times.
