I chose this cruise because it went to the island of Iona, a fascinating place where many ancient manuscripts were written, including the Book of Kells. The itinerary was great but the ship needs major updating and cleaning. The buffet restaurant had FILTHY carpets and I even saw the plumber with the tool he had just used to unblock the frequently blocked toilet walk through the restaurant without covering this germ ridden item. The food was very poor quality, the cheapest of ingredients and leftovers served the next day, even in the dining rooms and the alcohol was of very questionable standard. The ship lost all power one day as we were about a mile from port and we drifted for three hours until they could fix it. people were stuck in elevators there were no lights. The outside seating area was furnished with very worn and scratched chairs and tables. I have been on about 50 cruises and this was by far the worst!
Cabin was large. Beds were very narrow twin beds with thin lumpy matress Bathroom had no shelving at all, so toiletry bags had to go on the floor. All the linens were very very old, rough and thin. We had to call the plumber 4 times to fix the blocked toilet, which apparently was happening all over the ship.
