Just off the Valor this morning. Had a great 5-day cruise with my wife and son. The ship was very clean and the staff worked hard keeping it this way. Our ocean-view stateroom (#2355) was bigger than expected. The drapes were a bit worn and the carpet could use replacement soon. The food on board ranged from very good to excellent. Did not have one bad thing to eat on board. Went to Mr Sancho's in Cozumel (awesome) and did a Carnival excursion in Progreso. We did the Top Ten Cultural Highlights in Merida. It was awesome and highly recommended. Movies on board were great. Met the Captain on elegant night. Great country-rock band on board. Lost $40 in the casino. The Chocolate Extravaganza was fantastic. They basically serve nothing but chocolate desserts in a huge section of the Lido Deck buffet from noon to 2 pm on one day of the cruise. We did the Chef's Table and it was incredible. They feed you for three hours and give you a tour of the galley and show you how to make warm chocolate melting cake. It was worth the money. The ship had a bit more surface rust than I expected. I think new carpet, drapes, soft furnishings (sofas/chairs) and exterior paint would make the Valor just about perfect. If you go, try to attend the Cooking Demonstration. It's free and scheduled once per cruise. Read the daily newsletter for details. The bottom line is this was one of our best cruises and we would definitely sail her again.
