10-23rd July 2017 Madiera Canaries Lisbon round trip Southampton
Ship was looking good I thought if slightly tired bit in no way was that an issue. Good cruise it has been 5 years since I was last on P&O and I thought that certain things had improved, such as three always available menu items including a Steak. Our travelling companions thought that the desserts had reduced in number since last year, but Im not a dessert person anyway. Sindhu absolutely fantastic food and service, they ask you if you want it hotter than the 'norm' we just had standard spiced and it was fine and tasty, wanted to go back but ran out of time! The ship I thought was better than the Emerald Princess last year, it was helped by the lack of riotous 8-14 year old though this year as they hadnt finished school yet!, except for a few Scots who were well behaved! Hahahahaha. Would go again! The ports of call not too spectacular but what is there to see on volcanic islands, enjoyed Maderia and Lisbon particularly when we did our own thing.
Entertainment
Ships dance and singing troupe (Headliners) put in loads and loads of effort, and in general kept me entertained. Visiting artists well patchy to say the least, Peter Piper not really funny after the first joke, didnt bother with his second show. The Bourbon Street Boys, didnt realise that it was a comedy act until the third song, total rubbish, many people left during the show. Didnt bother for the second night.Rietta Austin, average singer. Again didnt bother with the second show. Now the highlight, save the best until last! Gareth Oliver was fantastic, saw both shows and this guy is funny loved the way even he slagged off the Bourbon Street Boys, although perhaps his joke about getting your feet wet with Costa was a little insensitive. He lost to Susan Boyle on Britains got Talent you know! Remembered Charlie the monkey Im only 4 years old !!!, even though I know that he is a least 20! Need more acts like Gareth, I guess though that at 72 cruises in a year he must be good.
It was fine, no complaints, chair needed a shave it was a little bobbled!
