Sail Date: Jul 2013
Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony

Was assured that there were plans for single people on board - to some extent there were - there was an evening gathering in an inside lounge, - all single people are supposed only to travel in inside cabins, of course....... but I watched them turn away a single man who arrived one evening who had not actually booked it in advance. The ship is huge, and I felt overwhelmed and unfriended. It wasn't dirty but it had no heart, and no decent swimming pool either - if one did meet someone nice to chat to and forgot to exchange cabin numbers, there was no chance of ever seeing them again. Such a huge ship is ridiculous - like living in a new town and if you don't know people, it takes a year to make friends.... And I am a gregarious person and join in things. I got lost trying to find my table at breakfast after going to the buffet. Don't do it on your own. I hung around at Barcelona Airport for about an hour, waiting for the transfer;

Embarkation formalities took an HOUR, was totally inefficient and then no-one greeted me as I walked on board, alone. No-one showed me to my cabin.

It was totally a commercial deal and if people weren't happy, as I was not, they were not catered for. I am still irritated about it 4 years later.

done enough. Read above.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Wandered around on own.

Cannes

Cannes is always nice, but I was alone, so walked around. Met one lady from the ship for a drink.
