Sail Date: Jun 2017
Cabin: Club Balcony

We booked a Princess Grill suite last year. We were joining the ship at Barcelona. At the last minute we saw one cabin with restricted view advertised and decided to sail from Southampton. We switched to our suite in Barcelona.

The six day voyage in our modest cabin was fine. The cabin was surprisingly roomy with plenty of wardrobe space, and a settee.

The Britannia restaurant is vast, and the menus read really well but although we thought our main courses were pretty good, the starters were miniscule - a small blob on the plate.

Club Balcony

Cabin A1

4063 was great value for money. Clean, good furnishings, tiny shower room was expected, kettle and beverage equipment was just fine. Same toiletries as in Grill suite but not so many.

7058 was just as always in a grill suite - spacious, beautifully laid out, with a proper bathroom. The balcony furniture has been updated but nothing else that we noticed after the refit.

Port Reviews

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

Palma is a wonderful, compact city and one of our favourites. The shuttle dropped us near the lake in front of the cathedral, i.e. very central.

Barcelona

The shuttle bus was chargeable and totally inefficient on the return. The bus drops you a quarter of a mile from Las Ramblas. There are no benches at all in Las Ramblas to have a rest. You need to go to one of the cafes in order to sit down. It's a seething mass of tourists and should be avoided.

Cannes

Cannes was a missed port due to high winds as it was a tender port. We docked at La Seigne sur Mer, and you could either walk into town (at least 20 minutes) or take a free shuttle launch to Toulon.

Florence (Livorno)

The shuttle bus took us right into the centre of Livorno, with a lively shopping centre, market and restaurants.

Kotor

A wonderful World Heritage Site. Only two cruise ships permitted at one time. Heaven!

Zadar

Shuttle bus took us right to the city walls. A lovely town and well worth visiting.

Venice

With the volume of tourists nowadays in Venice (5 cruise ships in port on day two) we wonder where the magic has gone? Once at the Rialto Bridge, best to walk through the fish and fruit and vegetable markets and head west into quieter side streets where you can still see where Venetians live.

Marco Polo airport is not fit for purpose.
