This was our first cruise of any kind. We chose this because it was jazz themed. We arrived Monday 6/26 at the Carlton Intercontinental Hotel, Cannes. Cannes was wonderful although it was unseasonably hot and humid. Next day (Tues) we had the morning to explore more of Cannes then early afternoon on to Arles by motorcoach to board the ship. Day 3 we did the city tour of Arles in the morning then Carrieres de Lumieres (highly recommend) with a stop in St. Remy (guided and free time), that afternoon. Then on to Avigion, Viviers and Vienne where the Jazz Festival was taking place. It was fantastic. We were out all night enjoying music, food, wine and new friends among the ruins. Then on to Lyon and St Jean de Losne where we disembarked. Motorcoach to Beaune for lunch then Dijon where we caught the train to Paris, Hotel du Collectionneur. Day 9 (Tues.) night and all of Wednesday, Paris. Thursday morning, homeward bound. Highlights: Cannes, Cathedral of Images (Arles), Vienne Jazz Festival, Cormatin Palace (Tournus) and Paris with an included jazz club tour. Cons: Food on ship was good but not great. Music on ship was lacking jazz. Ships furnishings were dated. The number one thing that stood out for us was the exceptional Cruise Director (Yvette). Especially being first timers. Bottom line. We had a blast. Made some great friends and came home exhausted. Can't wait to go again.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with French Balcony
Cabin P 316
Somewhat disappointing. Brochure showed an updated version of cabin with larger patio window with table and chairs (no). Bed facing window (no). When we inquired, we were told that those were the newer ships. Still, the room was adequate. Shower was a little small. Didn't spend much time in the room anyway.
