The ship was beautiful and the staff were great with the exception of the hotel director who was dishonest with us.

We purchased a cruise on Royal Caribbean based on the advertised route and destinations. Seattle round trip, going to Juneau, Skagway, Tracy Arm and Victoria, returning to Seattle. The ship was beautiful and the staff was very cordial and generally very helpful. On our first night at the Main dining room the servers seemed distracted and in a bad mood, so we the next night we asked for a different table and our servers Kasim and WeiWei were very nice and we stayed with them for the rest of the cruise. The staff in the Windjammer was always helpful and friendly. This cruise cost more than similar cruises that had a similar cruising route that did not include the return by inside passage. I understand that some cruise lines consider inside passage as the area around the ports. I consider inside passage as anything that is not in the open ocean water. (I.e. the West side of Vancouver Island is open water. The East side is inside passage.) This cruise was advertised to travel on the west side of the island going north, And on the east side of the island going south. That is why I assumed we would be visiting one less port. The Itinerary said it would go to Juneau, Skagway and Tracy arm and then return on the east side of Vancouver Island to Victoria, BC. That is the cruise I purchased. That is not the cruise we got.

We left Seattle and proceeded north around the west side of Vancouver Island to Juneau. We then went to Skagway. We were then supposed to go to Tracy Arm Fjord and Sawyer glacier. We did not go to Tracy Arm; instead we went to Dawes Glacier. We were able to talk to one of command staff at a meet and greet and inquired why we did not go to Tracy Arm. We were told that the Captain decided there was too much Ice. I appreciate safety first but when asked what the percentage this ship went to Tracy Arm, we were told, Zero percent, and when we inquired why, we were told it was because the ship is too big for Tracy Arm and the maneuvers required. We felt duped and lied to about the cruise itinerary. We then asked why the ship was not taking the inside passage and were told we were in the inside passage. I explained that the route shown on the TV in our cabin did not show us going through the inside passage but showed us going into the open water on the west side we were again told, no we were doing inside passage and that he would check into the matter. We had looked out from of our cabin balcony and other windows and we were not in the inside passage we were in open water. Where there should have land on both sides of the ship there was open water. This was not the first time we had been misled. Shortly after leaving Seattle we came to a stop for a few hours. We were told the Coast Guard had just boarded for a routine inspection. This was our seventh cruise and this had never happened before so we thought it was very odd that they would stop a ship for a routine inspection. I also noticed there other ships in the area and they did not stop for a routine inspection. We later learned that there had been a fire on board and the Coast Guard had to board to inspect the ship and approve it to continue. I understand not wanting to alarm the passengers, however there are some things the passengers have a right to know and this should have been one of those things.

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E1

Great cabin and although we had a minor problem with the shower they repaired it immediately.

Port Reviews

Skagway

Like this little tourist trap. Found a new drink we like at Red Dog saloon.

Victoria

Great city. Must do the Bard and Banker. Plenty of time in port to walk around the city.
