My wife and I recently cruised on Celebrity Millennium to Alaska and were very disappointed in the condition of the ship, the quality of the food(in the metropolitan dinning room) and the poor service throughout the cruise.
Let me start with the condition of the ship, we had a concierge level cabin with balcony on deck 8. The room was typical in size and decor a little tired looking. The balcony railing was in desperate need of varnish and sanding , I was worried about getting splinters from the wood railing. There was also a pipe/bar that ran across the bottom of the balcony above us that looked like it had not been painted in years. The layout of the ship left much to be desired most of the bars were in hallways(with the exception of Cosmos- nice space but often misused for bingo or trivia)Some of the public rest rooms, were not cleaned throughout the day and had toilet paper and urine on the floor. The Ocean View cafeteria floor was sticky on some days. But it had a great outdoor space to eat.On the bright side our stateroom attendant, Socorrow was outstanding. He was pleasant and efficient ,tending to our needs and cabin in seamless fashion. He worked in the manor we expected when cruising with Celebrity.
As far as the rest of the service throughout the ship, it was fair at best. The service in the Metropolitan dinning room was totally confused, it was as if they were breaking in a new staff. Guest realations did not give great information about disembark in ports, some ports took up to an hour to disembark. We had our own concierge included in our package, but she was hardly around and when she was in her office she would give you the phone to make your reservations (just an example of great service)There were a few bright spots in the staff, a barmaid from Rumania(don't recall her name)was terrific as was the hostess in Sushi on 5.
Standard balcony room, decor a little tired. Great location on ship.
