This was our first cruise having a balcony. It is a must for Alaskan cruising. The views are breathtaking. The rest of the cabin was dated (as most cruise ships are) but had more than enough room for 2 travelers. Room amenities included hair dryer, toiletries, bath robes, stationary, safe, mini fridge, 2 umbrellas, and small binoculars. Martini Bar was very fun. The bartenders are performers in their own right. Johannes was great and the iced bar tops are very cool. Jeanna and the Activities group made all the ship games and activities fun. Trivia, live game shows, and "tailgating" game competitions were fun to break up the day. The performances were awesome. Between the comedians, the acrobats, and the song/dance performers, we made sure not to miss one of the shows. Dinner in the dining room was always a good time. The service was excellent by each staff member that we encountered. The buffet could use some better organization. Especially the "made to order" stations that left little room for a line and always had a crod of people mixed with those trying to place their order and the others who had already ordered.

Alaska was simply amazing

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 1
Cabin C1 8048
Balcony view was blocked by the bigger balcony to the left and a movable ladder to the right. That being said, there was plenty of room and it was amazing to sit in the comfort of our balcony and view Hubbard Glacier while sipping champagne.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Mendenhall Glacier
We booked the whale watching and Mendenhall Glacier combined tour. We saw humpback whales, seals, sea lions, eagles, and some dalls porpoises. Well worth it to experience both together.

  • Adventure Kart Expedition
Walked off the ship and booked the same excursion in the Visitors Center for $30-$40 less than the ship. We were actually in a group with others who purchased on the ship.

  • Sitka
No scheduled excursion. Very easy to take the free shuttle downtown and walk to the Tongass hiking trails and Tlinkit totem poles. Also walked to Baranof Brewing Co. for some great beers. This was a longer walk since the bridge on the hiking trails was under construction.
