Long delay waiting for valet parking due to shortage of porters to take luggage. Check in for P&o smooth and easy. Only one of our bags had arrived by the time we sailed but thanks to our brilliant cabin steward Honarato the missing bag was found minus the baggage label it had on it when unloaded from our car at arrivals. First day and a half was fine, sat on balcony as we sailed to Norway and watched the world go by.Day 2 weather wet and that is when the "SOOT" started to fall on the balcony from the funnel. We had booked a rear balcony cabin on board whilst on a cruise in 2016 thinking we would get a better all round of the Fiords as we sailed along but the Future Cruise Agent had failed to mention that Britannia has a soot problem when it is damp and the rear balconies get covered in soot!.We could not use the balcony after that for fear of getting our clothes ruined. The problem was reported to Customer Services who sent an officer to look at the problem who admitted that they knew about the soot but could do nothing as it was the design of the funnels was the problem. The balcony was cleaned every morning but the soot came back so we had to use our cabin like an outside cabin. We were offered some compensation which really did not cover the difference between a Balcony and an Outside cabin and we still have not had a letter of apology from P&O. The Britannia has gone down in value for money since last year as the drinks and prices in the shops were cheaper in the UK than on board which is supposed to be Duty Free. The food quality and service is certainly not as good as it was and certainly not as good as other cruise lines we have sailed with and I would not recommend Britannia to any of our friends.
