PRE-CRUISE: Flew into FLL 2 days before the ship set sail. Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on the 17th St. Causeway. The hotel was nice. Remodeling the lobby/breakfast area. Will be nice when done. The room was nice. Bed very comfortable! Frig and microwave in the room. The hotel is very convenient to some shopping. Sun Trolley picked us up in front of the hotel. $1.00 to ride. Rode the 'loop' and then was dropped off at Fort Lauderdale beach. Enjoyed walking along the beach and looking in some shops. Would recommend eating at Carlos & Pepes Mexican Restaurant. Excellent!! Woke up early Sun. a.m. Our room was on the 4th floor in the back of the hotel. Went out into the hallway and looked out the window and there was the Freedom all lit up off in the distance. Ate a good breakfast downstairs at the hotel and walked out on the Causeway Bridge. Got some beautiful pix of the Freedom.

EMBARKATION: Around 11:00 a.m. took a taxi to the Port for around $11.00. Hotel has a shuttle for $8.00 per person. We opted for the taxi. Just minutes and we were there. The lines getting on the ship were long, long. However, 2 days before we left for FLL we got the call from Carnival to upgrade to a suite balcony for a few more $'s and we of course said YES! So we were VIP and the line was much shorter. Upstairs we went and sat in a seperate area for a short time. Were on the ship by noon eating on the Lido Deck.

CABIN: Around 1:30 p.m. we were in our cabin on the Empress deck #7239. Truly amazing cabin. Lots of room. Even has a dressing area with extra closet space and shelves. Bathroom has a whirlpool tub/shower. Out on the balcony we went. 3 chairs and a small table we on the balcony. Headed to the muster drill. Not bad at all. Over quickly and on the balcony for sail away. My family at home watched on their computers the Freedom leave Port Everglades through the inlet cam. Exciting for us all!! They got to see the ship head out to sea. Our room steward was very pleasant. Rarely saw him, however, he kept the cabin immaculate.

Cabin Review

Cabin 11

Empress Deck cabin #7239 suite balcony. Was upgraded from a balcony cabin to a suite balcony. First balcony cabin for me and I absolutely loved it. The cabin was very spacious. Had lots of closet space, drawers and the dressing area with more closet space and shelves was so nice. The bathroom was so big. Enjoyed the whirlpool tub/shower. Very spacious bathroom. Really enjoyed our time out on the balcony. Spent much time out there just watching the ocean go by, enjoyed entering port areas and then of course during sail aways from the ports. Would I recommend this cabin?? Of course, YES. It was very beautiful, spacious and enjoyed every minute I spent in it. I rate it an A+. Thanks to Carnival for offering us this cabin upgrade. Very pleased we said yes.
