Cabin: Large Ocean-View Stateroom

14 day itinerary took in most Alaska ports and it was so comprehensive. Seeing the Hubbard Glacier up close on a sunny afternoon was amazing. Also, cruising Tracy Arm while avoiding ice chunks shows that HAL has a wonderful navigation team. Amsterdam is the perfect size to access ports like Sitka, Kodiac, Homer. Anchorage and Hoonah. Crew is excellent.

The Lido deck buffets were very good and the specialty restaurants Canaletto and Pinnacle Grill for lunch were treats. Dining room food is just ok.

Amsterdam's entertainment was ok overall with a wonderful ventroloquist, comedians and musicians. However, the selection of movies in the theater left much to be desired. The movie theater used to be a strong point but horror flics and childrens animated movies are not appropriate for a largely well travelled clientele.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean-View Stateroom

Cabin C

Excellent comfortable cabin with wonderful stateroom attendants. The bed is excellent and the couch and chairs are also

Port Reviews

Homer

Nice port with excellent decently priced seafood restaurants and interesting shops

Icy Strait

Little village of HOONAH. People made us feel ata home.

Kodiak

just ok on rainy day. Welcome center was interesting

Sitka

Nice Totem Pole museum and walk in the forest at the Park Service complex. Sitka is very walkable but only negative was that prices of everything was stratospheric.
