Second great cruise on the Sun Princess for us in the last two years. This time the Northern Explorer 17 nights from Sydney to Freemantle. A well spaced itinerary with sea to port days and the opportunity to see some parts of this great country of ours that would be an impossibility by any other means.
Firstly embarkation at Sydney OPT was seamless. Through the checks and on board in quick time. Our mid ship balcony cabin on deck 9 was well presented, very clean and luggage had arrived by the time we did. We had booked the same cabin as previous in April 2015 and found this to be a great location on the ship both for access to most areas and stability. Our cabin Steward was attentive, personable and very efficient.
We found the ship to be in very good order for her age with only minor areas of unavoidable deterioration that comes with 22 years at sea. There were no obvious issues for the entire cruise apart from the usual intermittent closure of a lift of two that occurs on most cruises. Minor maintenance and upkeep was going on such as painting and varnishing rails etc but was completely unobtrusive. The crew we encountered were of usual Princess high standard, happy and well trained.

Smallish by modern cruise ship standards. All neat, tidy and functional. Great TV set up with movies and programs on demand. Plenty of storage space. Very comfortable bed but just a little soft for my liking. Quality linen. Very small bathroom. Overall cosy and clean.
