My wife and I had always wanted to cruise up the Norwegian coast and hurtigruten appeared to be the only choice when I checked online. We are experienced cruisers so knew what to expect ie this is not a cruise ship but a working ship. We were there for the scenery and the Norwegian experience and we were not disappointed. The crew were very informal friendly and relaxed, the scenery was terrific and the food was surprisingly good (although it would be a definite problem if you don't like fish as it is an absolute mainstay on the menu). The only negative is that the cabins are very basic but we knew this so all ok. Overall a very good experience. There are a wide variety of nationalities onboard but particularly Germans and local Norwegians who get on and off at the various ports. Another small negative is the high price of shore excursions.
