The first cruise I ever did, was this same itinerary on the Norwegian Sun, and since there is so much to see and do in the Baltic region, I decided it might be interesting to repeat the trip on the Getaway. I have often cruised on the Epic and it was interesting to see which elements had been used again on the newer ship and which had been abandoned.
I arrived in Copenhagen the day before and stayed in a hotel close to the central station. This meant everything was within walking distance, and it is very easy to take a train from Kastrup Airport to Kobenhaven H. (NB. The ticket machines only take credit cards and coins. If you have banknotes, then you need to buy your ticket at the counter, but the staff were very helpful and spoke fluent English) Then, any train departing from platform 2 will stop at the station.
Embarkation - I took a taxi from my hotel to the port. Depending on whether your cabin is on an odd or even floor will determine which terminal (1 or 2) your luggage needs to be deposited at. There were port representatives at the gate who advised the taxi drivers. There was not much of a wait to board the ship, although my cabin was not ready. However, it is a good opportunity to have some lunch in Taste/Savor which are the pink and blue mirror image main dining rooms on deck 6.
I thought I had booked a studio, but didn't check the number until I boarded and realised it was an inside cabin. Nevertheless, it was a comfortable room and in a good location. It was not too noisy either.
