We booked this cruise, Into the Midnight Sun, after having read an article in our local Melbourne paper from a travel journalist who cruised the Norwegian coast and raved about the experience. A combination of length of cruise, itinerary, finishing port in Greenwich, London and travel inclusions made us choose Viking Ocean. We were the first people to use Viking from our particular travel agency.

I won’t reiterate all the glowing comments made by others about the ship, Viking Sea. They’re all accurate. We loved the clean-cut Scandinavian design and interestingly, I found that our cabin had more drawer space than we actually needed. It was always immaculately clean. The staff were uniformly cheerful, polite, friendly and efficient. They appeared to genuinely enjoy each other’s company and their work. The food was fine without being outstanding in any of the dining venues. After trying all the restaurants, eventually, we chose to use the buffet only.

The scenery was beautiful and the weather kind. Our port stops were varied and interesting. The exception to this was Edinburgh where we were docked quite a long distance from the city in Rosyth. By the time our included tour reached the city centre, it left us with very little time to do much of anything.
