We chose to do an 8 day southern Caribbean cruise with Carnival for our honeymoon because you get the best of both worlds - a luxurious, relaxing beach vacation paired with the fun and excitement of being on a cruise ship. Both embarkation and disembarkation were surprisingly smooth and quick - only waited about 15 minutes total each way. Our cabin had a balcony and was lovely, spacious and always clean. Our cabin was on the lido deck so it was close to the beach/tides pools as well as the food which was really convenient. The 24/7 pizza was really nice since sometimes room service can take a while if you order late at night... The dining was delicious and similar to past cruises (previously sailed on the Breeze) but the decor in the dining rooms seemed slightly nicer and more upscale. The alchemy bar was also one of our favorite parts of the ship - you can ask your mixologist to create the perfect cocktail for you and tweak it according to your personal taste. Service was impeccable as always and we felt like the staff always did their best to make us feel special as honeymooners. We even received a special gift card to the spa which we used on an incredible 75 minute massage at the Cloud 9, which I highly recommend. If you're concerned about there being too many children on a cruise, you can easily avoid all "family-friendly" things by hanging on the Serenity Deck, visiting the Havana Bar (definitely book a room on the Havana deck if you can. The pool is for Havana guests only), booking late dining and going to the casino and late night comedy shows. We also noticed that there were hardly any families that stayed on our hallway (lido deck balcony rooms) so we never had the issue of kids running down the hallway. One thing that I would have changed about the Vista is that they did not have a dedicated night club like the Breeze. They repurposed the liquid lounge (where the comedians perform) to be the night club, but hardly anyone was dancing. We would spend time in the Havana bar at night as they typically had a live band which was one of our favorite aspects of the ship. The Havana Bar cannot be missed! Our favorite ports were Aruba and Curacao. I don't think anyone really did anything in La Romana and Grand Turk was extremely crowded so we didn't enjoy those as much as the others. The shows are definitely a don't miss - the costumes, sets and music are great and the whole thing is very entertaining. Matt, the cruise director was fun and entertaining and gives a whole personality to the ship and cruise experience. We participated in the newlyweds game show and had a blast - definitely recommend it to all honeymooning couples on this ship with Matt. Last thing - we loved that the photographers had their cameras linked to guests' room #s so you could view every picture you take on your TV in your cabin. That was nice but they charge way too much for the actual pictures. Would I go again on this particular cruise? Absolutely! We had a great time and I'd recommend it to anyone.

Balcony

Cabin 8F

Great balcony room. More spacious than other cruise ships. Even though we stayed right next to the lido deck we could never hear it and were never disturbed by any passers-by.

Port Reviews

Miami

We always have fun in Miami - stay on South Beach, north of 13th street for the full experience.

Grand Turk

Gorgeous beach! We liked this port because you can walk out of the ship to the beach with no cab rides or anything. Beach is usually super crowded but still worth it.

La Romana (Casa de Campo)

Terrible port! I didn't hear of anyone getting off the ship to do any excursions in La Romana, let alone find a beach. Our cruise stopped here and left at 2pm leaving hardly any time to do anything. We just walked out to the main area and walked back. There were no signs or anything that made us curious or want to explore anything else on the island, we were content with spending the day on the ship and having another Sea Day.

Aruba

Beautiful port - go to Eagle Beach and rent jet skis.

Curacao

Gorgeous port - went to Kokomo beach and swam/snorkeled for $10
