We originally booked this cruise to experience a different cruise line, and port destinations, expecting to have a great first class summer escape from our winter. Regrettably reality did not meet expectation.
Embarcation went very well but was spoiled by an unpleasant smell from the embarkation deck that never seemed to go away. Disembarcation also was one of the best we have encountered.
The cabin real estate was probably the smallest we have ever had with a shower so small you needed to be a contortionist if you dropped the soap, however it was well serviced and always clean and tidy. Then things started to go downhill. The ship has a rigid policy of requiring a jacket for men and cocktail dress for women, and all this in 38 degree heat. Apart from formal nights where you had to dine at the assigned table we opted to go to the buffet.
Very small room with barely enough space to get around in it. Unbelievably small shower. If you are a large person you should check this out with your travel agent. Bed is comfortable with the usual typical cruise line format. Towels are like cardboard.
Just went ashore and wandered round. Thought later about tours due to absence of the tour book
Been to Venice before so took the public water bus (2 day tourist ticket) and went here and there. Went to Burano, a pretty town that specialises in lace. Of course, Venice is always crowded and full of cafes and tourist shops. The cost of Gondalas has gone up, and no serenades any more, but you have to do it!!!
Dubrovnik is now famous for "Game of Thrones". We were not interested in this so hired a small boat and skipper who took us out to islands kolocep, Lopud and Sipan. Great day our on the water. Then wandered round the old town a bit. Typical old town experience. Too hot that day to walk the city walls
