What is this a photo of? What is happening in this photo? Please elaborate.

I thought I would enjoy this southbound trip on the Rhine as much as another itinerary a few years back with the same company. I was, frankly, disappointed in the service. I realize that there is only space on board for 44 crew members. However, not all of these folks were up to snuff. The cabin stewardess was just starting out - day 1. There was a waiter in the dining room who also seemed to be lost. Dinner ended up taking about 2 1/2 hours each night.

I am thinking Avalon needs to do a beta run with new staff so they have an idea about what to expect. But, I am thinking that did not happen.

We did get a chance to see interesting sights and go to unique places. The cruise director was very good.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Stateroom with Half-Height Windows

Cabin E

The cabin was compact but well laid out. The windows were below my neck so I could look out onto the water. (I was on the bottom level). They also provided us with converter / adaptors for the change in current. The bedding was comfortable, from mattress to pillows.
