We chose to try Viking after going on many Carnival Cruises and one Celebrity cruise. We picked Viking for the itinerary and price. We were very pleased. Although very different from our ocean cruise experiences, we loved it. We started with a pre land package. A Viking representative met us at the airport and we took a bus to Brugges, Belgium (we flew in to Brussels). We checked into our 5 Star hotel and walked around the city. Our representative was there to answer any questions we had and make recommendations. That evening we had a meeting with the other Viking guests and was told the itinerary for the next 4 days. The rep stayed with us for the 4 day land package. She was very helpful and gave great advice on what to do. She also told us many facts and info about the towns. After the 4 day land package we boarded the Mani for our 8 day adventure down the Rhine.

One tour is included at every stop. All were lead by local guides who were amazing. We learned so much about the areas. You are given a Quite Vox to wear during the tours so you could hear everything the guide said without having to be right next to them or worry about back ground noise. There are optional/additional tours available for extra costs. We took 2 additional tours.

The Mani was a nicely decorated ship. We knew it would not compare to an ocean liner as far as size and things to do. It really didn't matter. The ship is divided into rooms on one end and the lounge, restaurant areas on the other end. You spend most of your time at the destinations so it really doesn't matter. We spent time in the lounge after dinner meeting other guests, having cocktails and listening to the lounge act. We enjoyed the more leisure attitude and not having to worry as much about the getting on and off the boat procedures. Most everything is included in the price so you don't have to worry abut carrying cash or your room key. We loved the staff. Everyone was super friendly and helpful.

Very nice and clean. A little smaller than we are used to but that is the nature of the boat. Our room was right next to the reception area. We never heard other guests.
