My husband and I enjoyed being together and we love being on the water, but the ship left a lot to be desired. The entire ship needed a face lift. It was looking tired, and actually, unclean and unsanitary in certain locations. The carpeting in certain areas was stained. The fabric on the cabin sofa and chairs, and all of the furniture in the public areas, dining rooms and cafeterias were ORIGINAL from 2001.
The personnel in certain circumstances were rude, such as kitchen personnel coming out and talking to coworkers using profane language. Not mild cuss words, but extremely vulgar, and so loudly that I heard it from 10ft away. We purchased the beverage package for non alcoholic beverages, such as coffee, and we also purchased the tip program ahead of time. When I would step up to order my coffee, it was not infrequent that a smirk or comment was made about no tip - so rude in fact that I told the attendant that we had purchased the tip package. He said that he could see that we had purchased the beverage and the tip program, but it still meant that HE got no tip. "free drink, no tip". We DID tip our room attendant extra. She was terrific. FYI: the access to the drink program was difficult. You had to find an location that provided seltzer, coffee or non-alcoholic drinks, and I was not asked once by any attendant if they could get me anything.
Access to food was limited, not the 24 hour access for which cruises are historically known. As for the food, we sent back several dishes from the main dining room because they were over cooked, cold, or downright terrible. In the cafeteria, I was really surprised by the lack of quality. The lettuce in the salad bar could be oxidized, the salad dressing spoons were always filthy and sticky. It seemed as if all the desserts were foamy or whipped.
