Just returned from the Viking Saga seven day cruise to the fijords of Norway. It was a getaway for me and my daughters. None of us had been to Norway, we only had one week, and I was curious to see the Koningsdam, so it was the perfect choice. We all give the ship high marks.
The food, in all venues, was the best I have had on any of my HAL, Princess, or Celebrity cruises. Tamarind continues to be my most favorite restaurant at sea but Canaletto's is now a close second. The food was delicious and beautifully served. We didn't get noise from the rest of the Lido, perhaps because we were in the corner. The wine list in Caneletto was better than the main dining room. We ate in Pinnacle Grill one night and the service was attentive and the food well prepared, so no complaints there. But for me it has just gotten a bit boring. The main dining room experience was lovely in every respect but the noise level! We were seated on the upper level so maybe that's why, but it was the noisiest dining room I can remember. One expects noise in the Lido but it is a shame in the dining room with the formal table setting and first class service.
Across the board, our servers and room stewards were wonderful as usual. HAL has the best, most cheerful staff.
Smaller but fine if one is somewhat neat. Table small for in room dining. Tv great but finding movies tedious. Also the music stations always begin from the beginning so if one has to turn it off to go somewhere after 3 or 4 songs, those 3 or 4 will be the ones you hear again when you turn it on again. Balcony a big plus for the long days and great weather.
Easy city to get around. Ship docks right in town. Saw the Viking ship museum and the Folk Museum. Enjoyed both. Took public transportation. Very easy.
