Cruised with another couple who had never left from the NY port. Very easy to get to the cruise port in NY though, expensive to park for the week. Boarding procedures went smoothly (after I located my Passport) Leaving out of the harbor is breathtaking- police helicopter escort, passing the Statue of Liberty, going under the Verrazano bridge , passing by the NY skyline all worth doing at least once!

Balcony cabin was ready immediately upon boarding, bags showed up several hours later. Cabins are bland in décor but have everything you need and sound proofing was good. Did not hear any hallway noise on the 11th deck. Had booked Specialty dining online for Cagney's for the first night. Excellent steaks, tender lamb chops and a gorgeous view of the receding sunset off the back of the ship. Service was friendly and smooth. Best dinner of the week as far as food . Also had dinner (for an $11 upcharge) at the Cirque du Soliel dinner show. Show and service very good but the Surf and Turf dinner that everyone receives was as expected for a banquet. It's all about the show there. Our third Specialty dinner was reserved for the French restaurant but never happened as they did not have our reservation which had been pre-booked by our travel agent with confirmation. This caused some distress as now we were left without a dinner plan on a fully booked at-sea day. After some pleading at the service desk and a few phone calls, we were squeezed into La Cucina (Italian) by the wonderful Maitre' D who saved the night and gave us a wonderful table in the quieter part of the restaurant, next to the window. I can't say enough about how poised and patient all of the crew are on this ship. Situations come up that would have many people showing bad attitudes but they don't crack! Always pleasant! Other nights we dined in the Manhattan Room, with live music or the shorter version of Burn the floor- food was great and always changing. Desserts were hit or miss (we tried one of each). One Lunch at Savor was so-so. Felt rushed. Garden Cafe' had great variety of foods- something for all of us, healthy and otherwise, ha-ha. Hard and soft ice cream was a hit. (Hint: If you enjoy café Latte like me, get the hot milk and cinnamon from the Hot Cereal section and add your coffee , voila! No extra charge for a fancy coffee) Our friends ordered room service every morning- continental breakfast- and were happy with the food but said eating utensils were often not provided so they had to get theirs from the Garden Café the night before).

Plenty of people were drinking by the tiny pool area and one day the party got quite crazy with girls pole dancing up on the hot tub landing. Not much personal space in the overcrowded adults pool and people hogged the hot tubs all day with kids and large groups. Did not know about the adults only H2O area until later in the week so can't say how that was during the day. You must get up early to get lounge chairs and they put stickers on the chairs that aren't used for an hour after towels are set on them. However this is not done consistently around the pool and people save chairs yet stand at the bar all day.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

bland décor but adequate. Service and towel creatures excellent. room needs refurbishing in spots.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

Access to port very easy, traffic on Sunday very light. Parked at lot a block away very expensive but less than next to ship.
