We are a couple in our mid-60's. We must have been on over 25 cruises (NCL, Costa,Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity, Crystal, Regent). It was on a Celebrity cruise when we met a couple who said they absolutely loved Azamara. So we decided to give it a try and took our first cruise on the Azamara Journey last year to Italy. We just went on our second cruise to the Greek Isles on the Azamara Quest. We absolutely loved it! After spending a night in Athens we boarded the ship at 11:30 a.m. Our cabin was ready at 1:30 p.m. Our cabin was kept absolutely spotless during our 7-night cruise. The beds were so comfortable! Remy, our cabin steward always kept a good supply of bottled water for us in our stateroom. The ports we visited were Patmos, Rhodes, Crete, Santorini and Mykonos in Greece and Kusadasi, Turkey. We have been to most of these ports before. It was so easy getting off the ship without having a crowd of people waiting to get off as you do on the larger ships. On most days Captain Jose was outside wishing us a wonderful day! We enjoyed all the ports and loved being welcomed back with the cool towels and a refreshing drink. We loved the Discoveries Restaurant. Food was excellent! Our servers Noel and Adina took wonderful care of us. They never let our glass of wine get empty. We did go to Aqualina one evening. The food was not any better than Discoveries. We were disappointed in the mashed potatoes. We did write this on our comment card and the next day we got a call from the Executive Chef with his apologies. Entertainment was very good. You will not get the big show productions on Azamara as you do on the larger cruise lines but we loved the intimacy of the Showroom and not having to rush to get a seat. There were always plenty of seats available. Our Azamazing evening was in Crete. We went to a piano concert given by Andreas Boutsikakis in front of the Mosque by the waterfront. What a lovely evening as we watched the sunset. After the concert Azamara treated us to a fireworks display. What a lovely end to a perfect evening! As we walked back to the tender to go back to the ship Azamara had champagne waiting for us and then another buffet on the ship. Our White Night Party was in Santorini. What a perfect setting. Azamara brought on some Greek dancers to entertain us as we enjoyed our dinner. It was so nice to see the lights come on in Santorini as we watched the sunset. This was our 4th cruise to the Greek Isles and this was the best! We like Azamara so much that we booked another 2 cruises while on Board. We loved the intimacy of the ship (only 670 passengers), the crew, the food and the service! And it's nice that Azamara docks close to the port and stays in port longer. It will be hard to go on the bigger ships again with 3000 passengers. It's nice not being "nickled and dimed" for everything as on other ships. We like the fact that wine and most after dinner drinks were included as were the gratuities. We did have some shipboard credit from our travel agent. This is the first time we got off a cruise and did not have a bill! We would personally like to thank Capt. Jose, our cruise director Russ, hotel director Richard, Amanda our future cruise specialist along with the rest of the Azamara crew for a fantastic cruise! We hope to sail on many more Azamara cruises!
