June 2017
Spent 2 days exploring Seattle before the cruise- got a City Pass and would totally recommend that to all. A seven day Alaskan trip out of Seattle for a friends birthday. There we a total of 6 of us in 3 separate cabins. Mine was on deck 8 mid ship was supposed to be ocean view but I had 2 life boats outside so there was a small space in between that I could see out of, also the lights were on all night at the lifeboats- kind of annoying. Not impressed by the cabin steward, repeatedly left dirty glasses in room, did not get turn down service nightly and only had 3 towel animals. I couldn't tell you exactly who our steward even was. The size of the cabin was what I had expected. I had cruised on another line about 5 years ago and it seemed identical.
The ship was decorated and seemed to be in good condition, I had heard it had been refurbished recently. There was some touch up painting going on for 2 days in the hallway near my cabin and the paint fumes were pretty intense. The main theater had a few broken chairs at the top where handicap seating was and they were not very comfortable. The Newlywed type game was humorous and fun to watch. Didn't care for other entertainment. The adult Karaoke night was horrible! The kids Karaoke was right before and evidently the same handful of kids kept putting in requests and it was the same style (artist) of music each time and the DJ kept doing the kids requests even 30 minutes past when it was to end. Should have stopped taking kids requests earlier so Adult time could have started on time. I was looking forward to adult time and to have a bunch of teens & young kids running around at 10:30 pm was ridiculous. Also going on in the same area was bowling and someone kept dropping the ball over and over and over again and nothing was done- very rude to those trying to sing and just plan annoying.
I had cruised before and this was the same type of room that I had on the other cruise line, with the exception that I did NOT in fact have ocean view this time- there were 2 life boats that obstructed my view as well as having lights on outside the window each night.
