We've experienced many cruise lines and looked forward to trying NCL. The Escape is a beautiful ship, however it does not have any quiet adult place to sun and escape except my stateroom balcony. The pool areas are not equipped to handle 5000 passengers. We would've loved an adult pool/spa area like Celebrity lines where you can read a book. The food and specialty restaurants were wonderful, the staff very well trained. A very good experience. I had hoped to gamble and looked forward to it. BUT The Escape was the WORST CASINO ever in my life's experience. It was filled with smoke., I couldn't breathe and I couldn't play roulette.(only 2 tables) The minimums way too high as evidenced by many dealers at tables doing nothing. I even asked a Slot supervisor about the minimums. He was somewhat nasty in saying this is our policy. The entertainment was very good. Until they eliminate smoking we wont be back on this NCL line. The smoke wafted thru the floor to the bistro below and you could not eat in the outdoor area..
The cabin was smaller than most ships. The value is excellent but they nickel and dime you. I paid for WIFI ($40) but they charged me 50 cents to print my airline boarding passes. Public restrooms were not maintained forcing us to go back to our room to use bathroom. The gym was excellent and kept me there 2 1/2 hours a day.
Great ship if you are travelling with children It's not an adult ship so why have smoking.
Cabin particularly small. One night we had no soap. Imagine that. Steward did not anticipate our needs.
